Do you have an “Office”?
yes. Please check Contact page.
What is a knot?
It’s when the muscle tightens in a specific area/areas that refer pain to a region. Once released by manipulation the muscle can sometimes instantly recover or it may recover over time. (aka spasm, trigger point)
What are the benefits of “Hot Stones”?
Hot, heated, warm stones are very good for the muscles. This modality is equivalent to having 3-4 hours relaxation, and one receives all the benefits of a therapeutic massage.
During a Therapeutic Swedish there are manipulations used by hands to heat up the muscles that help them relax/release which can take quite a few minutes.
The application of the “Hot Stones” replaces most techniques used by the hands to heat up the muscle. When a stone is applied, the muscle will absorb the heat and the release takes place usually quite fast. I have noticed in my experience that the clients’ muscles absorb heat faster or slower than others due to how stressed the muscles are.
If a muscle spasm is stubborn, cool stones are applied. Actually running the temperatures, hot, cool, hot, cool, hot, until the muscle releases. It’s like a shock to the muscle fibers for a few seconds then you heat them up again, after a couple minutes the muscle usually releases.
*during cold months I usually skip the cool stones and use hand manipulation*
What is Raindrop Technique?
This technique involves applying therapeutic grade essential oils to the spine, neck, and feet. The session lasts about an hour however the benefits may last up to a week or more.
Gary Young found that combining several holistic techniques, described below, created a synergistic effect for the body. The three modalities that combine to form Raindrop Technique are:
Aromatherapy – Raindrop technique uses seven single essential oils, two blends, and one essential oil massage blend during the session. It is congruent with the French application of aromatherapy where essential oils are applied NEAT (undiluted) to the body.
Vita Flex Technique – Vita Flex was brought to the US in the 1920s by Stanley Burroughs. It is an ancient Tibetan methodology meaning “vitality through the reflexes”. Its theory is based on the fact that slight pressure applied to the body creates an electric charge that is therapeutic to the body. This is known as piezoelectric.
Feather Stroking – This is similar to a massage term technique called effleurage. But this technique was actually termed by the Native American Indians.
Should I get a massage before or after I see my Chiropractor?
It depends on the preference of your Chiropractor. Having the massage after seeing the Chiropractor allows the adjustment to last longer. In some cases, they actually use the muscles to find what parts are out of alignment. A massage before seeing your Chiropractor can also allow the adjustment to be more passive.
Check with your Chiropractor’s preference first.
What is the “Additional Charge” for a house call for? **Currently house calls are for emergency therapies only**
A $15 charge is applied to the treatment fee. This is to cover my expenses: gas, travel time (less than a 1/2 hr commute), the convenience of on-site massage, and the additional time needed to setup/breakdown my equipment.
Do you offer a “Veteran’s/Military Discount”?
Yes. Just show me the proper “Veteran/Military ID” and the client will receive 15% off any of my treatments a the office. A Military/Veteran Discount cannot be applied on top of the Senior discount.
Can I split (1) 60 minute massage into (2) 30 minute massages?
I’m sorry, no.
What does the “MM” stand for on your business card?
Do you offer packages?
Not at the moment.
Does the saying “no pain, no gain” qualify for massage therapy/deep tissue?
In my opinion. No….Muscle tightness can be released passively, it just takes more time. Sometimes when your really sore or from a past injury, you may feel some discomfort during a massage until the muscle releases.
Why am I sore the day after my massage therapist works on me?
Most of the time a “deep work” may leave your body a bit tender in areas. Also, not consuming enough water after the massage can lead to soreness the next day.
What if you don’t offer the modality that I am looking for?
If I don’t provide the therapy you need. I will refer you to a qualified massage therapist.
